SHC of Fentress honors local seniors during Older Americans Month

On May 28, Signature HealthCARE of Fentress County hosted a dinner at the Fentress County Senior Citizen’s Center celebrating Older Americans Month, which takes place each May.

Older Americans Month is intended to recognize older Americans for their contributions and provide them with information to help them stay active and healthy, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Community Living. This year’s theme was ‘Safe Today, Healthy Tomorrow,’ with a focus on injury prevention.

Alice Kirby, director of the center, had this to say about the event:  “This was just another example of the love and support that Signature HealthCARE shows toward our center and our community. The dinner was a great success with 88 seniors in attendance. They loved the food and the kindness showed by Signature HealthCARE and it’s caring stakeholders!”

Shirley Best, a senior citizen of Fentress County and volunteer at the center sent a beautiful thank you card. The wonderful expression of gratitude was overwhelming to the stakeholders!! We thank you Shirley.

Mrs. Best is a volunteer with the Fentress County Senior Citizen’s Center’s Telephone Reassurance Project. The project is designed to support those seniors who can no longer attend the center. Thank you Shirley Best for your caring and kindness for others.
