On July 26th, Signature HealthCARE of Fentress County hosted its 2nd Annual Bluegrass Saturday Night. The event was open to the community with well over 300 in attendance. Bluegrass Saturday Night has long been a staple in the community as a radio program MC’d by Country John B. Mullinix airing on WDEB, Fentress County’s local radio station, every Saturday night. This year’s show began at 6 p.m. with free hamburgers and hotdogs being served by Signature staff to all who attended. The bands started playing at 7 p.m. and the entire program was aired live on WDEB.
“We decided last year to host a live Bluegrass event for our elders and our community,” said SHC of Fentress County Administrator Darrian Goodman. “Our elders faithfully listen to the radio broadcast. On any given Saturday night, our facility comes alive with the bluegrass sound. We thought it would be great if we could host the show live, so we contacted John B. Mullinix at WDEB. He loved the idea! It was such a great success last year we decided to make it an annual event. This year’s event was amazing! The community and elders sat through every band until the last banjo was picked.”
Signature HealthCARE of Fentress County would like to thank our community and extend a special thank you to all those who sponsored our event:
Todd Burnett, Larry Cooper, Paul Crouch, Jimmy Johnson, Rita Pierce Murphy, Charlotte Peavyhouse Garrett, Trish Slaven, Cindy Smith, Frank Smith, Tammy Davis Smith, Nancy Linder Stewart, Steve Taylor, Crystal Hinds Tompkins, and Wanda Tompkins
