Signature HealthCARE – Disney World Vacation 2014

“Magical” was the word of the week as 85 Elders and Stakeholders from various Signature HealthCARE communities arrived at Walt Disney World for the final vacation of 2014.

This is the fourth consecutive year we have taken groups of nursing home residents on the vacations of their dreams. In past years, large groups have traveled to a single destination. However, last year, in an effort to accommodate a wider variety of preferences, Signature took smaller groups to several different destinations, including BostonAtlantic CityPanama City Beach and Gatlinburg.

Expansion. Adaptation. Innovation.

These words, in many ways, defined 2014 for Signature HealthCARE. The Revolution brought our total number of locations to 125. We welcomed new centers to the family and took pivotal steps to position SHC as an integrated care network capable of meeting health care needs across the full spectrum of care. We expanded into new business lines while continuing to enhance and invest in existing service offerings.

SHC of Fentress County Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Elders and Families

On November 20th, residents and families of Signature Healthcare of Fentress County gathered together to celebrate Thanksgiving with our annual Thanksgiving dinner. This is the largest family event at SHC of Fentress County with over 140 family members in attendance.

“It is such a nice time to get together and be thankful for each other and another year,” said Kelsey Hackett, Quality of Life Director. “We love to see the families visit with their loved ones. It’s like a mini family reunion for some.”

The dietary team prepared a fabulous meal of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and yeast rolls. Families brought desserts to share with everyone.  We are proud to host this wonderful event to show our appreciation and thanks to the families and elders at Signature Healthcare of Fentress County.

SHC of Fentress County Explores Cades Cove

On Monday, November 17, SHC of Fentress County and Standing Stone Care & Rehab, also a Signature HealthCARE facility, teamed up for a Gatlinburg adventure to Cades Cove.

Cades Cove is one of the most visited areas in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The isolated valley was once home to an entire community. Visitors can see homes, churches, and school buildings from a bygone era.

Although it was a cold and snowy day, it did not stop the residents from enjoying the beauty of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Braving the cold weather, the residents were treated to sightings of wild deer, turkeys, and squirrels scampering through the trees. Seeing the still-standing pioneer homes and buildings was like traveling back in time.

Walt Disney World Adventure 2014 Highlights!

Our elders will be returning from their Walt Disney World adventure today. They will be bringing back with them many souvenirs, however the best souvenirs will be unseen–they will bring back with them all the magical memories of the Magic Kingdom! This trip, their first to Walt Disney World, has been a dream for the both of them.

This is what Signature HealthCARE and SHC of Fentress County are all about. We believe life should be fulfilling and worth living. Our mission is to radically change the landscape of health care forever. We are achieving this by changing and enhancing the lives of our elders with true quality of life programs. We hope you enjoy the pictures and celebrate our elders journey with us!

SHC of Fentress County honors veterans

To commemorate Veterans Day 2014, Signature HealthCARE of Fentress County honored its elder and stakeholder veterans. Chaplain Ed Walker presented each veteran with a certificate of gratitude for their service.

The honorees included veterans of WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam. Signature HealthCARE is founded on three pillars: Intra-Preneurship, Learning and Spirituality. It is the Signature HealthCARE mission to radically change the landscape of health care forever. Without the men in the pictures above, who have defended the American pillar of freedom, our mission would not be possible.

Signature HealthCARE of Fentress County salutes all the men and women who have served and are serving in the armed forces. We thank you for our freedom! We would like to thank the American Veterans Store of Pigeon Forge for donating hats to all our veterans.
